He stayed with a family on a farm that had countless animals and this solidified his passion to become a veterinarian. After high school he volunteered for one year at a local bird sanctuary.
He then went on to vet school in Budapest, Hungary.
This is where he met his wife and partner Dr. Lindsay Hein.
After graduation they moved to his home area and worked in a mixed animal practice for 2 years. Next they ended up in Vermilion, Alberta at a wonderful mixed animal practice. However the mountains and being closer to Lindsay's family was calling them. When they heard Dr. Steiger was wanting to slow down and retire they jumped at the chance to work at his clinic and live in the area. They moved here in February 2020 and it instantly became home.
When not in the clinic, Gregor volunteers as a firefighter with the Diamond Valley Fire Department.
He can also be found spending time with their young sons Henry and Roland, playing baseball, fishing, hiking in the mountains, camping and doing anything in the outdoors.
